#marchintosh I’ve had this PowerMac G4 MDD on the shelf for years. Came to me with a blown power supply that I removed today along with loads of dust and dirt. A late Marchintosh project - going to attempt a janky install of an ATX power supply after I found an adapter cable for sale on eBay. If you look closely in the shiny drive doors, you can see the old stripped G5 case I use as a bookshelf. 😀

#Marchintosh A late Marchintosh win tonight. Using the adapter cable I purchased recently, I managed to successfully install an ATX power supply in a PowerMac G4 MDD that has been lying dormant on my shelf for years. I had to pull the optical drive cage, so I needed the assistance of an external QueFire FireWire CDRW drive to install OS X Tiger. It’s janky in there (boy is it ever!) but this is very much proof of concept for me. Much to be done… especially replacing the noisy main fan.

My #Marchintosh PowerMac G4 MDD is done for now. I’ve dubbed it “The Bionic Mac”. Now sports an ATX power supply, a hacked-in Radeon 9600 from a G5, SSD connected to PCI SATA, USB 2.0, and a new, quiet, pleasingly blue main fan.
