  The hydrangeas in the sun are dead. Unsustainable. Those in the shade are struggling and I am tiding them over with occasional gifts of water. If this is the weather we are going to have though, that will cease. Plenty of other plants are far more resilient. If undue help is needed, we stop growing it.   I am painting a very small window and I didn't want to use 5% of a can and agonise about what to do with the rest. My theory was to use sample sachets of furniture paint from Rustoleum. They are 99 pence each and unlike most sample pots, they contain the actual same paint. I bought four. One sachet was enough for a somewhat patchy base coat, so I could have got away with just two. A lot of money saved and much better for the environment. #diy #decorating #sustainability

  The forecast is showing that my part of the UK may get some rain on 31 July. The possibility always seems to be about ten days off but then doesn't materialise. Thatcher sabotaged the country by practically giving away our water assets, which have been used by monopolistic vultures as collateral in extractive loans. Water supply has been an afterthought.
