@donmoyn.bsky.social Also: I don't think there's a single cohort of the American voting public that would willingly send their children off to war to get killed on behalf of Saudi Arabia, for a multitude of reasons (some less charitable than others, but voting is a crude instrument that way.)

@gregdoucette.bsky.social Booker, though. He still thinks the country wants more neoliberalism.

@donmoyn.bsky.social He was also the asshole Trump put in charge of his first run at "stolen election" bullshit back in 2016, only to find nothing of significance and fade into the background without comment.

@donmoyn.bsky.social I still need to read the piece but I hope there's a callout to the fact that the US economy is also horribly monopolized at this point, and a muscular antitrust policy will go a long way towards solving this problem _while also_ greatly improving pricing and competition for ordinary consumers. A Dem government that intends to stick to Bork-style antitrust orthodoxy will fail to get traction on either issue.

@gregdoucette.bsky.social But if it comes from the upper echelons of taxpayers, that's not all bad.

@carnage4life@mas.to We recently integrated Claude reviews into one of our code repos at work. It's useful, but for me at least it's about 7/10 for accuracy, at best. I look forward to the era of codified unforced errors, it's sure to be a good time. /s

@donmoyn.bsky.social I'd argue that he's probably worse than Chalabi by virtue of his birthright. People conveniently forget that the Shah still had secret police and black site torture prisons while he was Westernizing the country; when the mullahs took over, it was only a change in tone, not tactics.

@habitsofwaste.bsky.social Right? This can be done because you're a grown-up who understands that looking at the world requires nuance. I wish we had more thinkers like you in positions of power in this stupid country.

@gregdoucette.bsky.social ChatGPT is hyped by everyone of influence as an expert system, though, and the only way to know it's shining you on is if you yourself know enough about the subject matter to call shenanigans. It's impossible to have a knowledge base both that broad and deep, so ChatGPT et al, are typically advertised as tools to close those gaps (they're not, but I digress.)

@donmoyn.bsky.social The Olympics is _supposed_ to transcend politics, but by allowing Make-a-Wish Patel into the dressing room to spray around cheap beer and laughing at POTUS' bad jokes, the mens' team made itself into a political entity. To that I think we should say: suck it up; you're big boys, recognize that choices have consequences.

@willrosecrans.com A guy on my hockey team went to high school with Stellvertreter des Führers Miller. Says he was an asshole then, too.
