Updated MacOS Tahoe. For some reason the hostname got set to /etc/localtime This caused things to break. Reset the hostname: sudo scutil --set HostName "Whatever" Things were happy again.

Happy Birthday to my Dad, who reminded me today that "technical transformations" aren't new. He lived through the era where interpreted languages were supposed to kill off low-level machine coding. Everyone thought the old guard was extinct. Instead, the two became the foundation for everything we use today. Same panic, different decade.
