  New spam account pattern to look out for, Masto admins: Overnight we got two account requests using the names of existing users whose accounts have gone inactive, with a number tacked on the end. Email addresses were unrelated throwaway accounts. #mastoadmin

  Just FYI: this is part of the damage being done by extractive AI companies. Their scraper bots routinely DDOS us, and they multiply to take up as much bandwidth as is available.
