The cancellation of #TheGathering in 2024 wore me down. Even though I stepped down as board chair a month after the event was scheduled, I didn&#39;t realize the wear before getting put on sick leave for burnout at the end of 2025. The maximum punishment outlined in the AI act is a fine of 7% of last year&#39;s turnover. OpenAI are promising investors a 17.5% return. OpenAI can literally budget for a maximum EU penalty and a significant return at the same time. A fine just becomes operational cost in an economic environment of rapid growth.
