I’ve heard of internal combustion engine cars parking in charging bays, but this is the first time I’ve seen an EV blocking a petrol pump

There’s a Deep Space Nine episode for every occasion and every mood. Today it’s “It’s Only a Paper Moon”.

This year has not been a good year for bike accidents. I fell into a bush and now I’ve got an eight inch long gash on my leg 😅

I understand that cats like to sleep in strategic places because it comforts them. What I don’t understand is why they also decide to sleep in the middle of the hallway where they are very vulnerable to being pounced on by siblings.

The Tour de France Femmes is coming to Sheffield next year, and it’s going to take in two of our greatest roads. My only choice is, which one should I go watch it on? It might be nice to cycle up Snake Pass when it’s closed, but Winnats Pass is closer and the atmosphere there will be electric. Decisions, decisions.

Consoling myself with an iced cream at Forge Dam after my bike fell shortly after taking the photo on top of the hill near Stanedge Pole 😅 Suspect a bent derailleur hanger.

It’s a pity that the biggest assholes I’ve ever worked with live rent-free in my head to this day, but they help me to do better than they did. I keep them in mind whenever I work with newbies, and hopefully I’ll never be as big a jerk as they were to me. Congratulations, champs - you’re still top of the pile 20 years later. That’s quite an achievement.

My post bike crash list of chores is now at 9/22 items done. It didn’t incapacitate me, but it did wipe me out long enough such that chores really piled up. I think this is largely what contributed to the burnout I was experiencing.

Just got home after catching the 19:08 Kings Cross to Leeds. The East Coast Main Line closed between Retford and Doncaster. We got turned round at Grantham and were taken back to Kings Cross. Caught a taxi at about 3am. Now I’m home. Thank goodness LNER are picking up the bill.

Spending seven hours on a commuter train, and then three hours in a black cab really mucks your body up. I feel like I cycled 50 miles yesterday.

My Brompton wasn’t shifting properly after my crash, but after taking its drivetrain off, giving it a proper clean, then putting it back together, it’s back to normal.

The fact that Kezia Dugdale is saying “things could go backwards” when trans people are already losing their human rights tells you absolutely everything you need to know about Stonewall and Kezia Dugdale. It tells you exactly who they care about, and who doesn’t matter. https://archive.ph/2026.04.19-075343/https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2026/apr/19/things-could-go-backwards-kezia-dugdale-on-safety-lgbtq-rights-and-the-future-of-stonewall

I just called my Switch a “Wii”, absent mindedly, and realised that I’ve become my parents. “Stop playing the Sega PlayStation and go outside!”
