It's hard to put into words, but does anyone else miss that cozy feel software used to have? Like.. MS Office 95-XP. You could really feel that people took care and pride in the code. FOSS Software still has that feel, but I can't think of much commercial software that feels like care went into the UX. I once read a paper about all the research and user testing done for the Windows 95 UI. And it stood the test of time imho.

I made a very cursed and unsafe contraption to cut foam. It consists of an electric knife, wood and whatever I had lying around.

Working on important things. This will be a pooltoy and possibly a figurine at some point! If you're like "I must have one", poke me and I'll let you know how pre-ordering works!

Just found a beige whale on eBay: An Aironet (before Cisco bought it) Wireless AP with matching Cardbus card, both from 1999. I always wanted to make a pre-2000 wireless network! It's not officially 802.11b yet, but compatible! For 10$ a steal :)

Just treated myself to watching another recently discovered lost episode of Computer Chronicles, the Upside Internet Showcase 1998. I'd love to get my hands on 90s issues of Upside Magazine sometime, sadly there's almost nothing archived. https://archive.org/details/cc1545_theinternetshowcase98

Hey Fediverse, what is your best-practice for storing old phones/batteries I'd want to keep? I was thinking: used metal ammunition box, then each phone/battery inside a LiPo safe sleeve.

I will never get tired of this piece of art, and hopefully will find out one day who the artist was (not credited anywhere, only dead ends so far).
