With its gripping narrative of a man's struggles against mythological threats (barrels) and the whims of the gods (additional barrels) before finally ousting intruders (a large monkey) from his home and rejoining his beloved Penelope (Penelope), Donkey Kong is the 20th century's boldest and yet most popularly accessible treatment of Homer's Odyssey

I’m a cranky old-web person but I’m just genuinely fucking mystified that the reaction to either Jack’s or Zuck’s new corporate social media landgrab isn’t a loud unanimous laughing “no, get fucked”. Twitter and Facebook were a warning, not an instruction manual.

(If we don't control for symmetry on the n=3 specimens, we get the nine total that we see in Mark's set, the results of flipping some of these horizontally and or vertically.)

Fresh start on this this morning, from the little bit of rambling I did last night: Let's play with the question of how you can divide a square up into n sub-rectangles each of which has sides of a 2:1 ratio. The really simple case is n=2: we'll just fill up a square with two 2:1 rectangles, easy peasy!
