The kids are alright. Also, why aren’t more colleges and universities enlisting their students to help set policies? https://www.npr.org/2026/07/30/nx-s1-5853571/students-set-ai-policy

It just occurred to me that the combined works of the Iliad and the Odyssey could be named “Everybody Hates Agamemnon”

RE: https://fediscience.org/@josh/116924383788795803 In which I bring some books by @pluralistic@mamot.fr to meet the foundational ideas of cyborg anthropologist Donna Haraway, and discuss what the heck is going on with artificial intelligence

RE: https://mastodon.social/@yaelwrites/116893016548981856 This isn’t just a win for right to repair, it’s a win for food security in general when farmers can manage their equipment to get food on the table, and a win for the cybersecurity of our farming infrastructure when people no longer have incentives to expose themselves to malware trying to crack firmware

“‘The most important thing in school is that our children learn to read, write and do mathematics,’ Stoere said, according to Reuters. When you put it that way, it seems pretty reasonable!” https://gizmodo.com/norway-says-ai-aint-for-education-2000774320

Canvas LMS is down globally due to a security breach. I received numerous emails from my uni IT today increasingly concerned ultimately warning everybody Don’t. Log. In. At. All. So the end of the semester is tomorrow at 23:59ET. Lots of finals haven’t been graded. Lots of final projects haven’t been submitted. Nobody has alternative modes for work and no backups exist. What is the most likely scenario here? #academicchatter #canvas #canvaslms #highered

I've been teaching administrators around my campus that it's easier to use Microsoft Teams in a browser. Less bloat, more responsive, more control over how it acts because the browser doesn't just let it take actions. That's step one. Step two, hey look how more responsive it is in Firefox. Step three, look how much faster Linux is and you can still use all that stuff. Step four, we leave the Microsoft shell and gain enlightenment.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@publicdomainrev/116427426613274852 I’m imagining a performance where this poem is sung or chanted side by side, maybe in a round, with Alan Ginsberg’s “Howl”
