  This concept looks easy to draw, but in fact it’s pretty hard to pull off a modular, technical, rectangular typeface that’s legible and still looks good when used for more than a few letters.   Heads up, type designers: the latest (2024) issue of the official spelling rules of the German language makes ẞ the default form for capitalizing ß. This means many of you will have to turn the tables in a font update to keep providing German language support: make ẞ the default in OT all-caps or small-caps features and keep SS in a stylistic set (if at all).   After inadvertently opening the InDesign help for the bazillionth time, I finally removed the help shortcut from the [F1] key and assigned it the same functions as [ESC] instead. Peace of mind! Should’ve done this ages ago.

  I just bought an educational CD-ROM from 2002. The flash-based launcher still starts on a modern OS, but, more importantly: the actual data it references is stored in plain formats (PDF, txt, jpg) and accessible in structured folders. I can use it in any way I need to. It’s so nice that something old is just usable without hacks and kludges for a change.
