    Clearly there are worse sins in this world than blog posts that don&amp;#39;t include the pub date &amp;amp; author above-the-fold where it&amp;#39;s easy to find w/o scrolling, but then again, part of me wonders how such tiny acts of violence may have led us to this new age of petro-totalitarianism that we find ourselves in today.

    @Matt_Noyes (b/c I know you&amp;#39;ll appreciate) there&amp;#39;s only a brief mention of the Succession of the Plebs at the end here β€” in particular a brilliant observation on Plutarch&amp;#39;s framing of it in his Life of Coriolanus – but this entire interview w Curtis Dozier on Tribunate (everyone: follow their channel!) is remarkable for how it lays bare the ways &amp;quot;western canon&amp;quot; has so effectively erased uncountable histories of oppressed peoples. https://youtu.be/mu8xBL...

    Just found this interview with some old volunteers that joined the Abe Lincoln XV Int&amp;#39;l Brigade in Catalonia 1937. It was recorded for Pacifica Radio in 1971, nice Pete Seeger soundtrack, too. I believe all four vets are my New Yorker forebears, but my fave is Maury Kolow from Brownsville, who talks about labor organizing and running in gangs on Pitkin Ave during the Depression and how they decided to join the fight against fascism.
