Anyone got a recommendation for a low profile USB-C opensource physical security key? I know about solokeys, but unlike yubikey, they don't have a short USB-C security key. I also saw Somu (also solokeys) which are the right form factor, but they only support USB-A. If not, do you know if solokey is ever gonna come out with a mini USB-C key? I really need a tiny yubikey type thing I can just forget about. (I have full sized keys already as backups, just in case.) Edit: I've added a...

Please support my goal of trying to get main to be the default branch on all the FOSS projects I love. This time, we're asking the jellyfin team to update to main :grey_blue_hearts: https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-helm/issues/129

Really appreciating GoToSocial's reply and boost requests feature, especially when discussing code of conducts. I'm able to reject replies and boosts on this instance and it makes me much more confident about posting things. Sure, other instances may not respect those things, but it doesn't matter to me because they can't bother me here. I love the fediverse, and I especially love GoToSocial's approach to it :gotosocial: :heart_cyber: #gotosocial

It is once again time to give thanks to Brian Fox, the Black American programmer that has given us BASH and echo! Thank you for your INCREDIBLE contributions to open source software, Unix, and Linux. It literally would not be the same without you. BASH is still absolutely foundational to all computing today. Happy Black History Month to an absolute icon! #bash #bashscript #echo #foss #linux #unix #BlackHistoryMonth #gnu

A lot of maintaining a repo is kind of like being a librarian. You are largely a knowledge keeper. Yes, you also write code and fix things, but you're kinda like the go to person for "does this already exist? Has someone brought this up? Did anyone try to do it? Why can't we do it this way? If you were to do this, how would you go about learning how to do it?" and for the most part, that's fine. It's chill, fairly easy (if not a little taxing) work, but it really all fa...

I really love that the fediverse cannot "go down" or "have an outage". Sure, an instance can go down, but there's literally tens of thousands of instances. This instance alone is networked with over 13,000 other instances. I love that for us. Most people I know on here have backup accounts on other instances and a lot of people link them on their profile, so you can easily just follow both in the event of their instance shutting down. I think that's cool, because it...

Hey Linux friends, what's your favorite OCR (optical character recognition) tool that doesn't use LLMs/AI? Bonus points if it works from the command line :) Update: I've gone with tesseract! Thanks everyone for helping! :heart_cyber: #linux #ocr #noai
