Turns out an old pal of mine runs a major stage decking company now, and has offered to lend me a couple of bits of deck to play with console configurations. If I can crack this, I've got an agent who wants to start hitting the social clubs up here with the retro disco. Exciting times.

So this morning's "Fantasy" light screens came from Bernard Manning's "Embassy Club". I wasn't expecting a famous venue behind these, but it seems there is one!

Paging any "LED neon" experts out there in Fedi-land, please...? I plan on replacing the vinyl lettering in my front fascia board with fake-neon. I think probably the best way of doing this is to laser-cut the channel on MDF, paste it to the back-board, then LED strip with a diffuser pipe channel on top to cope with right angles. At thinnest point the lettering is 8mm width, at thickest it's about 15mm. Logotype cannot be changed. Any pointers please? I'm new to this! π #fe...

Too paggered to write owt useful yesterday cos it was a hard weekend, but no fash at Pride and no bother either (except for the catfight after I'd done π π»). Broke my duck on the first outdoor gig hookup thanks to the c-form 16A/32A distro! I did burn out yet another cheap no-name smoke machine tho, time to actually spend the money on a decent Chauvet one before the place burns down. This is the only pic I have of the day, thanks to my pal James. Back to earth with a thump this morning.

Well I was certainly right about last night being "bouncy". Good gig even though I had to resort to laptop π«£ Today's gig is on a concrete slab. That should be easier!

"We're going to have a night or two away in the Lake District, love!" I say to my wife. "Lovely!" she replies. "I'll really look forward to that. Where's the record fair?" π«£

Any of you lot in for #TOTP tonight? We've only got three cos the Proms are in the way. Not that it makes much difference cos they've only cut out one of the 00s ones, so we've got March 2000, August 1984 and August 1988. (If I weren't packing the van for a disco, I'd be tempted to plonk the helicopters in the middle of the front room.)

Today's fun, hooking up a remote control to a Pulsar dimmer pack, so I can remote-control the fuzz lights one by one. At some point this will be replaced by a 1U four-channel switch unit (NJD D10000x), but that's not arrived yet and it'll need work doing to it anyway.

Helicopter lights (ex-BBC) all sorted and going into service as of this Saturday's gig. Here's one of them in action. Hooray! #retro #TOTP

Had a really lovely night with the chap I'm doing the disco for this coming Saturday, a wonderful sort and fantastic ally to all sorts of causes. We discussed the Roadshow, and he's really up for acting as a sort of agent and booking gigs for me. Which is good, because I'm terrible at selling myself, and a big chunk of something is better than a whole chunk of nothing. Plus he's on the same wavelength as me, too. Pleased as punch.

Four years since I did a run of shows at #EdFringe and I think I've just about got over the PTSD. Wrote about it at https://blog.jessicat.me.uk/2022/12/2022-the-year-of-touring/ if you're that bothered.

With Yorkshire now having the climate of what southern France had a few years ago, I am wondering if a few vines would flourish outside in the garden. I suspect the harsher winters would put paid to that idea though.

In a change-of-pace yesterday we went to the organ concert at Ossett Town Hall, featuring Cameron Lloyd on the Compton-Christie organ which is kept well by a team of volunteers. Some of the parts are almost a hundred years old. Mum hadn't been in several decades! It's had quite a lot of modifications since, including the toy shelf and the Weber upright piano. A jolly time had by all. More details at https://www.organfax.co.uk/clubs/ossett/ - Helen keeps talking me out of volunteering f...

Crap selfie cos I'm terrible at them and I was working, but here's a pic from last night's wedding gig. Full dancefloor, bangin' gig, lots of happy people. Bloody love doing this job. (And you can hire me if you're in the Yorkshire area! https://retroroadshowuk.com for more info.) #vinyl #vinyldj #retrodj #properdisco

Spectating upon the rival local Pride civil war (which I honestly thought was done with). I'm still blocked from one of their Facebook pages because I called that particular one out on their hypocrisy. There are more useful battles to fight, frankly...
