Went to a board game meet up at the local library today. They were teaching Forest Shuffle and had four tables of it going at once! After that, I taught some people Herbaceous, to keep with the plant theme. #boardgames

#BirdCallOut Juvenile bald eagle! On a lamppost above the interstate, looking all regal despite not yet coming into its adult colors.

Oh my goodness. I just looked down at my blanket and realized it's edged with a blanket stitch. So that's where the name comes from... #sewing

#BirdCallOut Black Vulture! Flying above the highway with distinctive white patches on the ends of its wings! This is a new bird for us. So nice that the Turkey Vultures here have some other vulture company. #LifeBird

I just went to an awesome talk at my local library, "From Twilight to Sunshine: Maryland LGBTQ+ History." The speaker was extremely engaging and the research was top-notch. If that sounds of interest to you and you're in MD, see if your local library is hosting one of the other presentations of it this month. Or if you're online, check out the website mdhistory.gay or watch a video of an earlier talk on the topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCox51sYpDM #Ma...

Just two days and already the new sourdough starter has begun to bubble. This is a more successful start from scratch than the last time I tried. We're naming this starter Mary Ellen after the Stan Rogers song. #fermentation #sourdough #bread

Ugh. Just completed a codewords puzzle that not only violated the unspoken agreement to only use normal words (it included several surnames) but it didn't even have all the letters in it! There was no J! I am left feeling quite dissatisfied. ☹️

Just finished a campaign, the first of a projected three-part series. Very happy with how it all turned out, even though my PC was completely overwhelmed with strain by the final encounter. We had some nice twists and turns along the way. This was originally a 3-hour module for a convention, but once we combined it with the Mythic GM Emulator, it spun out into a 24-session campaign. Genesys and the Mythic GM Emulator work quite well together! #Genesys #ttrpg #MythicGMEmulator

Another kombucha processing day. This time I took a bunch of blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries, blended and strained them, and then added them for the second ferment. The liquid is a lovely dark red. Hopefully it will be a bit bubbly in time for brunch on Sunday. #fermentation #kombucha

I love magpies and I love corvids, so it was very exciting today to see a Black-throated Magpie-jay, the best of both worlds. The colors were gorgeous. It doesn't live in my section of the Sonoran desert, but it was still featured at the local zoo/museum. #birds

Pulled out the Genesys dice today for another session. It was good to be rolling them again. Two months between sessions! My, how the time slips on by! #ttrpg

I've just finished Michiko Aoyama's "What You Are Looking for Is in the Library" and quite enjoyed its series of vignettes about various people's insights following their fateful visits to the local library. Definitely a cozy read. Though now that I've seen the title of the French translation (La bibliothèque des rêves secrets) I cannot help but wonder what the original Japanese title was. #cozyreads #libraries #books @bookstodon

New bird alert! New bird alert! My wife and I saw our first Canyon Towhee today! We went on a pleasant hike through cactus country, but is that where the bird was? No, it was at the nearby restaurant with the okay food but great window-side birding. Pickings were slim today other than the Canyon Towhee, but just before we left I did finally see a Pyrrhuloxia that my wire reported I'd missed at the start of the meal when I was off washing my hands. #birding #lifebird
