  The rc service of pdns in FreeBSD ports is very basic and not even fully functional (config parameter doesn't do anything), so I rewrote it and added support for starting multiple virtual instances of pdns. Now I'm fighting poudriere again, because I had hoped I could just overlay a single file onto an existing port, but it seems to just silently ignore that :/

  Wanted to do some cleanup and remove the 15.0-RELEASE jail base. But Bastille is telling me that some jails are still using it? Now I find out that the affected jails have the osrelease set to 15.1-RELEASE in the jail.conf, but their fstab still mounts the 15.0-RELEASE. How did that happen :neobot_confused:

  Gitlab Workspaces are one of the worst things I’ve ever had the displeasure of having to install. 0 config options for anything Either you have the exact setup they intended, or you’re doing tons of yak shaving to get anything done. Custom TLS certs? Not in the workspace proxy, you’re gonna need a workaround IPv6? Pfff, we hardcoded 0.0.0.0, so good luck. :aneobot_explode:

  It's interesting how on GrapheneOS you could easily just miss a major Android upgrade having happened. With all of the stuff stripped out that Google puts on top, there's not that much that noticeably changes. Sure, there's some new stuff in settings, but the only thing that caught my eye immediately after the 17 upgrade was that an app (that I installed) now uses a different icon by default. And honestly, it's nice.

  The gl inet Mudi 7 appears to have completely messed up traffic accounting. It skyrocketed up to „120GB used“ in 2 days and is now stuck at that number. It has, in fact, not been anywhere close to 120GB and Telekom luckily agreed with my estimate.

  Today it's backup time :neobot_hyper: My old setup was all kinds of messy in regard to backups. Some BorgBackup here, some nothing elsewhere. Plan is to once again simplify things.   I started reading about netgraph on FreeBSD. I think I understood the basic theory of what nodes, hooks and edges are and a bit on how ngctl can be used to configure those. I definitely still have enough questions about it, which will hopefully be able to be resolved by just playing with it. Gotta spin up a VM and break some stuff.   Tried to install the Unifi Gateway Lite. But as per usual Unifi shenanigans, PPPoE just didn’t manage to establish a connection. And because I had changed the credentials in an attempt to fix it, the old USG also didn’t connect anymore. So what saved the day for the moment? The modem. Turned on PPPoE in the Vigor 130, gave it the credentials, et voila, it immediately established a PPPoE connection and everything worked.   Anyone here know why IDRAC8 on a Dell Poweredge R730 would show there being 8 RAM sticks installed, while in reality there are none and the system on boot also reports "no usable memory" :neobot_confused: (This is my first time interacting with enterprise server hardware) EDIT: Consensus seems to be that it remembers the last working config.
