Anyone here know why IDRAC8 on a Dell Poweredge R730 would show there being 8 RAM sticks installed, while in reality there are none and the system on boot also reports "no usable memory" :neobot_confused:
(This is my first time interacting with enterprise server hardware)
EDIT: Consensus seems to be that it remembers the last working config. Makes sense, thanks everyone ^^

@jana this might be a case of it remembering the last working configuration, and it updating only after a successful post (which isnt happening currently because no ram)

@jana are they installed in the right memory banks? there might be more memory banks than sticks and they should be installed in proper memory banks... I would also try to boot the server with every memory stick alone to discover if any of them is failing....

@jana as others pointed out, yes it is remembering last good config, I was scared last time I tested some RAM because it only showed 12 of my 16 sticks, but it was just the time for the server to register them all after a post...
