  8 years ago today, I brought home the cat the shelter told me not to get. She was "violent", "choosy", "hateful", and "wouldn't get along". She's also the best cat I've ever had. She was returned to the shelter as a kitten and stayed there for 5 more years. They didn't even remember her name when I asked.
