was lucky to receive a commodore 64 and a few dozen floppies with software for free, but the owner said they nolonger had "the keyboard".

the rack-mounted embedded system controlling the photonic sintering tool went offline, no power at all, pulled out the atx power supply unit and the high voltage capacitor was showing signs of failure. removed it and no longer holds a charge. also weird that when shaken i can hear the contents thump around inside. toast!

xenon lamp for photonic sintering with #2 gauge wire and three capacitor banks? yes please!

    luckily no back wash today!

this vacuum pump runs 24/7 and began leaking oil into its drip tray. luckily it was just the drain plug o-ring which had compressed and nolonger sealed properly!

rescued this nema-17 stepper from the e-waste bin, even has a slim planetary gear, but the driver pcb might be toast. should have enough torque for a butter robot?

i guess one way to reduce vibrations between the vacuum pump and the probe station is to pass the vacuum line thru a 12-liter pail of hardened cement!

this little nanowire was found while running the optical profilometer calibration routines using a silicon carbide flatness standard. there's always some dust around, but this bit needed a closer look. the laser had some trouble maybe because the nanowire is transparent or highly reflective. it was around 100um long and 3nm diameter.

flow of the carbon ink coating tapered off while printing onto thin foil for this supercapacitor prototype looked like a work of art!

dreamt of a small ruler for edc, here is the hazelton decimeter! lasercut from 200um stainless steel, with 100um divisions. designed in #FreeCAD
