this little nanowire was found while running the optical profilometer calibration routines using a silicon carbide flatness standard. there's always some dust around, but this bit needed a closer look. the laser had some trouble maybe because the nanowire is transparent or highly reflective. it was around 100um long and 3nm diameter.
