There's generally no way around copy-paste phase, and anyone in that phase will not understand why roadblocks are here, so it surely won't stop them, and anyone after that phase will not need those roadblocks.

Experienced user will be able to handle it probably and noob will copy-paste random commands from the LLM and give all the passwords and social security number to the prompts anyway, no amount of roadblocks will succeed at blocking stupidity.

Like, the guy is amazing dev according to everyone, who worked with him, and he genuinely wants to write good stuff, but somehow he keeps downward spiraling.

@Flaky@furry.engineer Have you tried #winboat ? It basically sets up a QEMU VM for you and uses RDP to make it so you can open windows app and it opens as a separate window(although there is desktop mode if you want). It works great on Niri in my experience.

@sergeypetrov@qoto.org @drq@mastodon.ml Это очень сильно зависит от производителя. Сейчас я скажу кое-что, что невозможно представить если ты на винде. У HP довольно неплохие дрова из моего опыта, новые принтеры просто заводятся без даже пол пинка через hplip, для старых - hplip всё скачает сам.

Отдельно скажу, что доступ к ssh по паролю - изначально штука не такая безопасная и лучше было бы сгенерить отдельный ключ на телефоне и переслать публичный на ноут, а доступ по паролю отрубить к фигам. В худшем случае придётся просто убрать доступ ключу.

@CutePenguin@mastodon.ml Ну pyTorch вроде может работать без Cuda, что означает что ты по идее можешь запустить его через termux. Может даже кто-то приложение состряпал чтобы его на мобилке поднимать, хотя тут не знаю.

@lenny@piaille.fr How old are we talking? Like, is it straight up pre-UEFI times? Maybe it has UEFI but windows installation is BIOS mode? Anyway, my recommendations would be to check whether your motherboard has UEFI or BIOS, and whether your drive was formatted with GPT or MBR in case of BIOS. Best case is GPT+UEFI, any generic guide for manual partitioning will be working for you if you can just shrink windows partition(tldr for all of them - make a 4-16GB partition, use as swap; make a 512M...

@itsfoss@mastodon.social It kinda just was there, and since being good at computers was my only personality trait(not much changed) back in middle school, I just tried it. Obviously it didn't went well, because that was back in 2017-ish, one year give or take, and I liked playing games. But I vibed with it, so I dual booted until somewhere in 2021-2022, when I already felt like support was good enough, I wiped windows from the hard drive from my old laptop.
