One of the wonderful things I traded for at #emfcamp was this tiny keychain-sized 2.4GHz spectrum analyzer. If this was you, please let me know who you are!

There's now this channel on the (unofficial) #emfcamp Discord 😬😬😬

Well well well, if it isn't my old friend Symbian... This was my work phone at about the time the iPhone came out. Before it was available in Norway, I was often asked to bring iPhones back from the US, but I really perferred having a QWERTY keyboard myself. Will it work for #emfcamp? We'll see!

For those going to #emfcamp, I will have the following boards available: SAO-to-Hexpansion Hexpansion-to-SAO LED Filament Driver Plus a couple of different filaments and space-y edge-lit acrylic attachments for the LED driver boards. If you'd like me to set one aside for you, please let me know! #SAO #hexpansion

Although it's *generally* nice to have a pool shaded by a giant live oak tree, it's a nightmare for this time of year. First you get the leaves all falling (live oaks are evergreen and drop their leaves in the spring), and then you get the massive dump of catkins ongoing now. And the pollen clogs the filters, so it doesn't circulate well. This is what it looked like before the third cleaning of today, and what I've pulled out this week so far. Never own a pool....

I really need to get more creative with my silkscreen art (hexpansion to SAO board in progress)

The air here is literally yellow, as is every single outdoor surface. For reference, anything over 500 counts per cubic meter is "Extremely Heavy", so this should really register as "Insane" (All oak pollen)

The 2020's equivalent of going into a brick & mortar store to try a thing in person and then buying it online for cheaper is to find the part you need on Digikey and then order it from LCSC.

Tiny stepper is very tiny. I have even tinier ones, but I haven't yet successfully soldered to one!

IMPORTANT #RODENT NEWS: They can throw up. Was reading about #squirrel behavior yesterday and came across this 2025 paper: "Observation of a grey squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) suggests that some rodents can vomit" Rarely have I been so convinced by a paper just from Fig 1.

Sometimes what *should* be a simple and straightforward job ends up being way more difficult than it should be. In a (vain?) attempt to quiet my very loud backup generator ahead of a planned 6-hour power outage, I decided to put a new muffler on it. The part I was worried about (the flange) fit fine, but the support bolt took a jack and two prybars to get lined up enough to fit in place. Whee!

Oh heck yeah - tickets purchased! It is HARD to get tickets to #emfcamp, but if you volunteer or talk at the previous one, you typically get a guaranteed ticket (I did both). If you've never been, my advice is to submit a talk! An accepted talk is also a guaranteed ticket, and I don't think you can find a friendlier audience.

If I get into modular synths, I won't tell anyone, but there will be signs...

Installing heat trace on pipes in a hot attic feels a bit like torture. But at least now they're less likely to freeze and burst.

If this act doesn't involve human-sized dancing Furbies, then either: A) Eurovision will be dead to me or B) Hasbro is lame https://www.eurovision.com/stories/look-mum-no-computer-united-kingdom-eurovision-2026/
