My new working paper: "The Future of Software Development: Navigating the Agentic Revolution and the Training Gap Paradox" by Guillermo Power. Problem: Agentic AI automates entry-level tasks that built engineering judgment. The very judgement that's essential to providing human oversight. Junior roles shrink, no proven replacement yet. Call to action for researchers, industry, educators. Read: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=6739060 #AI #Software...

#Subnautica2 is pretty neat! I'm not sure I will love it long term, but it's a neat one to jump into and build a few things now and then. #gaming

Publishing a working paper on SSRN has led to an overwhelming number of emails from predatory journals. The volume of these solicitations has been far worse than I anticipated. I had no idea that the problem was this bad. #academicPublishing

Higher spec single board computers are nearly dead. Pi Zero 2 Ws are so unavailable that they might as well not exist! And Pi 4s and 5s are so expensive that starting a project with one is unjustifiable! I can't wait for things to return to normal!

I've been in Paris before during a World Cup when people burned motorbikes, cops beat the living shit out of a colleague of mine when his only crime was to leave the hotel, and we saw some guys riding on a car's roof for seemingly no reason at all other than football being on... I just don't understand this at all! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cg7pk5j7nyjo

I put this deck together when the pandemic started. I didn't think it would last very long but it is still solid and in decent shape!

I keep reading how MetLife Stadium is in the New Jersey Meadowlands, a "toxic swamp" (not my words!) and it has no way to walk to it. I've visited a few Olympic venues and they were all walkable. Also the figure skating world championships last year in Prague was also 100% walkable. Why would a stadium like this be chosen for a world class event? It makes zero sense to choose a city and stadium with poor infrastructure. #WorldCup

I've started playing the full #Pragmata game and I'm hugely impressed! Hugh and Diana could become iconic videogame characters... it's a phenomenal game! And it feels so topical and very 2026 even though it is set in the future. The game engine is slick as hell too! Motion is so smooth and fluid with no stutters and every character and object is insanely detailed!!! #gaming

I'm loving #Pragmata It feels like an old fashioned arcade game from the early 3D console era. It's a nice mix of a bit of Cyberpunk, Halo, and Burning Rangers. #gaming

Playing #Pragmata with #gyroaiming is an absolute blast! It almost feels like cheating compared to using a standard controller. I’m still using an old BigBig Won Armor X Pro for gyro, and while the new Steam Controller is tempting, it’s hard to justify the price when there are perfectly solid alternatives out there for a lot less. I cannot imagine the Steam controller will sell well at all at that price. Which is a shame as it would have been nice to have a standard PC controller. #gaming

I just pushed a pure Markdown text adventure: no Python, no compiler, just an LLM reading two plain text files that you can play in any AI chat like #LeChat. Is this a good idea? Probably not! But I thought it was an interesting experiment and the way it maintains the state by printing it out seems to work... This is an adaptation of a C64 text adventure I coded quite a while back. #AI #textadventure https://github.com/gpowerf/llm-text-adventure

In a world where AI can generate functional code from plain English specs, is there still a place for low-code platforms? Low-code was supposed to democratize app development, but if AI can do the same, and often easier, without the constraints of drag-and-drop builders, why bother? Are low-code tools becoming obsolete, or do they still have a niche? What’s your take? Keep in mind that neither AI code or low code solutions are perfect! But they can be functional for many tasks!

My fitness/smart watch of choice is still my aging Amazfit GTS 2 Mini. Not because it’s the best, but because of the “Mini” part! There are very few options out there that aren’t 44 mm+ behemoths. This tiny watch has all the health metrics I need, GPS, and lots of work out types and it’s a genuinely comfortable size.

I've started checking if in-text citations match their references in meaning and strength with this. Is it error prone? Yes, like any LLM job it is non-deterministic and error prone. Does it save time and find useful stuff? Also yes! #AI #AcademicPublishing #Academic https://github.com/gpowerf/citation-relevance-auditor
