  Just accidentally came across this legendary performance of Silent Jealousy by X Japan at the Tokyo Dome in 1993. This is their big hair era, Hide doesn't have his signature yellow-with-pink-hearts Mockingbird guitar yet, and yet, what a show! When the time for the guitar solo comes (3:15), bro just stands there and absolutely _shreds_, and the Dome blasts the fuck off into the stratosphere. Incredible stuff.   What footwear do y’all recommend? My Allbirds sneakers are on their last legs (feet?) and it’s time for something new. Would prefer something durable and comfortable, easy to put on is a big plus with kids.

  Man, what you can do with tools is so much more interesting than the tool itself. I don’t care about what product you chose to buy, I’d much rather see what you’ve created with it. I say this with love, as a recovering tool-obsessive person myself.

  Has anyone done #bitemporal stuff with postgres 16? I understand SQL:2011 support has landed in postgres 18 but I'm hesitant about upgrading (being very conservative). I'm aware of https://github.com/scalegenius/pg_bitemporal and https://github.com/xocolatl/periods but I'm no database expert and I feel like a baby engineer dipping my toes in.   I love how much faster my @OpenBSDAms vps is than my previous, Hetzner-hosted one. I wonder why that is? The previous one was in Finland, which is farther from London than Amsterdam, but surely not *that* far to be noticeably slower to respond. But this is really great. I'm hosting my RSS reader (Miniflux) and it's just a joy to use when it's so snappy. Makes me want to selfhost more stuff. What services do y'all selfhost?

  Does anyone have a good way to deal with spammers that send "just checking if you got my previous email" follow-ups every few days? I tried blocking, reporting spam, etc, to no effect it seems. What do you do? Do you send GDPR takedown notices? Write elaborate rules for your email client? Something else? I use @fastmail if it's relevant.
