  @TwoClownsEating@beige.party To be fair, it covers more or less the whole century, so not bad value. If I had to recommend two albums to progress your jazz odyssey, I’d say Brilliant Corners by Thelonius Monk and The Bridge by Sonny Rollins.   I watched Sirāt last night. I feel like it’s a story that will stay with me for a long time. Some of the reviews (pro and amateur) have been pretty scathing, and I totally see their points. I wonder if the upsetting of expectation isn’t the whole point of the film. The overwhelming fragility of existence and continual ability of an uncaring world not to deliver on a satisfying narrative, counterbalanced with the ability of humans to survive in spite of it all. https://mubi.com/en/gb/films/sirat

  Got Wuthering Heights music filling the house today. Wife and teenage daughter both listening to music inspired by… Downstairs, my wife (an enormous Kate Bush fan, who saw her in concert) is listening to the new Charli xcx album. Upstairs, teenage daughter is listening to the Kate Bush song while doing her makeup.
