finally learned about uBlacklist browser plugin. it is so incredibly nice to block AI and SEO spam from search results. It is a browser plugin that checks the browser search results and prunes away links from a blacklist. quite simple. but very effective. did I miss any other QoL plugins to make the web less sloppy?

This morning, a journalist and two politicians discussed a viral post calling Stockholm boring because a tourist couldn’t find anywhere to eat at 10pm. But Swedes simply eat dinner earlier. Isn’t that part of what you travel to experience — that places have different habits? Sitting in a café on Södermalm, I’m thinking about specialty coffee: the same aesthetics and interiors in Stockholm, Vienna, London, New York. Do we travel to experience local culture, or just generic metropolitan moods?

Running LLMs locally, thinking about drivers and quantization, and hardware constraints and all, feels a lot like selecting sound card in the 90s. I hope we get a future that this is abstracted away like 99.999% of the time.

I decided to give Claude Code in VS Code a try. I've used copilot before, and quite often I ask chatgpt or gemini to generate smaller snippets for me. Sure it feels more competent on complex tasks. But boy is it slow for small edits. I have many mixed feelings about coding with AI support. But most of all, it feels like an immature tech domain. Like web in the 90s or something. It will be interesting to see where it all is going.

I had my first AI deceptive tool use today. Claude Code. It tried to understand some python code by running python, importing my module, instanciating a class, and then introspection on the object to find some runtime values. But it had hard coded the answer in the python code it wanted to run. Was it trying to decieve me or itself ?

I am impressed by Benn Jordan. Sure, some of the technical details might be off in his explanations, but those are minor detail by what i can tell. https://youtu.be/lA8WuXDXfcI A musician caring about privacy and cyber security. Who is against oppressive megacorps. I think it is inspiring.
