@atpfm regarding the backlight of the new display, part of me was hoping that the algorithm used was a version of the original Mac’s Atkinson, dithering one, which in my head seems to be a good starting point for mapping images into points of light

@atpfm I’m probably the hundredth one to mention this, but listening to the part about rounded edges of the MacBook Neo. I am reminded that Apple doesn’t do traditional “rounded“ edges in the sense of being quarter circles. They’ve always been absurdly extra with the curvature continuity of their products and are famous for only using G3 and G4 continuity (“the Apple curve”). This is just an excuse to share this video which is great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvPPXbo87ds

@atpfm Re: Pay-to-unlock hardware: In the 90s I supported a few hundred 3D workstations. SUN, SGI and HP (some with Itanium!). It was common practice to have to pay extra for built-in-but-locked hardware. $5K if you purchased the option pre-enabled, or $16K after the fact, for a proprietary dongle to unlock the built-in hardware. 50% of it would go forever locked and unused, I was told.

@atpfm How mortifying must it be to have this written about you and how much might it make you question the decisions you took.
