I feel like I've gotten less interaction lately though I can't tell if it's just I'm not posting enough interesting shit anymore or I'm just too busy to post or notice at all, or other people are too busy or less active on fedi... all seem valid reasons. I mostly just hope it's not a loss of trust, confidence, or good will brought on by something stupid I've said or done.

oh my god officially the weirdest user workflow discovered today... someone was using the Microsoft Outlook Saved Signature Templates for rich text document storage. So to get the contents of their documents they had to open outlook, go to file>options>mail>signatures, scroll through a huge list of saved signatures, find one, click drag select all the text, copy it, click cancel twice, then they could paste it somewhere to edit or share it.

Unsolicited and totally non-professional financial advice: There's an ETF (Exchange Traded Fund) called CLIM -- Climate Global Climate Resilient REIT Index (REIT = Real Estate Investment Trust) which specifically invests in land that is predicted to increase rather than decrease in value due to climate change. It is one of the only land related ETFs which is consistently gaining in value now as other real estate trusts plummet.

I feel ancient. Who all else old enough to remember when the internet contained information and you could find it using a "search"?

I'm "paranoid" and "alarmist" for things like refusing to sign in to windows with a Microsoft account over privacy and control concerns, but then when this kind of shit happens my critics always conveniently forget that I told them so: https://www.windowslatest.com/2026/07/10/you-cant-fully-disable-microsofts-gdid-windows-11-tracker-but-these-settings-limit-what-it-captures/

My life is basically this comic except I have a stack of like 30 hobbies stuffed precariously into a spring compressor trying to wedge it in an opening while the other blocks are already packed in so tightly some are falling out onto the floor.

Hantavirus sequel time you say? Look, I'm not saying any of this is a good idea, but genetic biomed is lagging behind the rest of the imaginary number go up line this year, if you wanted to hedge some bets...

BTW just looking at long term charts and such it really seems (to me at least) to be painting a picture of a stock market which just divorced reality entirely in 2021 and never came back... like maybe we're in, idk, a phase of overshoot where stock market growth is continuing despite all the energy and resources backing it falling off? And now gold and silver trusts have exploded exponentially in the last year... maybe not great sign of things to come.

Hearing the news GitS anime looks true to the manga and I'm starting to get excited to see it. My phone lock screen is now a bunch of gifs from Stand Alone Complex and 2nd Gig.

yall dunk on vibe coding but you have no idea how much money SaaS vendors save by outsourcing code review to the customer's IT department.

Holy shit the traffic is so bad today... 4 hours spent commuting (so far) on a 20- minute each way commute. I'm not home yet. Taking a break. I thoroughly regret not taking my motorcycle... or hell, a bicycle would have been faster. No a/c in the car so my left side looks like a lobster.

It's been like 2 years now and the online DISM repos are still broken while Microslop fucks around with LLM integrations and replacing existing code with slop. I am beyond irritated at this point. If they would just fix DISM, I could easily repair all these broken sxs stores that are continually crashing or degrading systems in our environment.

I've come up with a really clever idea for how to make shit tons of money unethically and totally legally in a way that negatively impacts the general public, and the hardest part is keeping my mouth shut about it because I think it's so damn clever I want to share it but like I just know some evil motherfuckers will use it and I don't want that. Class A infohazard.
