  PDF hoarders, I need your help. I have a bunch (500ish) PDF files I need to rename according to their Title and Author, but It' a big blur in my head as to how I'd do this. Is there a tool that might help that isn't more obscure than necromancy? #datahoarder #pdf #tips

  I have the feeling that some of the new flashy Nu-Gnome apps missed something crucial. A lot are just a GUI wrapper on one small command. The UNIX philosophy of doing one thing and doing it well applies to command-line programs, less so to standalone GUIs. Its force was about bridging 10 commands together, not having 20 icons that do tiny things pollute your app drawer. These apps are beautiful and intuitive but they're really heavy for what they bring. But wait! There's more....

  #Typst is incredibly powerful and makes for a beautiful result but it took me about an hour to understand how I can align the page numbering either left or right for even and odd pages respectively. It's a completely different way of "scripting" than I've ever dealt with before. Do folks in the publication design community think it's an interesting program to try out?

  If you ever doubt whether you should publish your thoughts and are afraid they'd sound dumb, remember there are poeple writing books about "Reclaiming the West" or "Diary of a Multimillionnaire Prisoner". For the love of god, publish while you can. Publish your dumb stuff, your short thoughts, your flopped thesis (re: myself), your hot takes, your wild rants.

  Très content de l'algo de justification de Typst. On peut contrôler l'élasticité de l'interlettrage et des espaces, créer des retours forcés en choisissant si la ligne du haut reste justifiée, faire des espaces insécables, etc. La seule chose que je ne vois pas est une limitation automatique des veuves et des orphelines. On se retrouve trop souvent avec le premier / dernier mot d'une phrase tout seul à la ligne.

  I'm in love with the #HaikuOS "tab stacking" GUI - halfway between a tiling window manager's tabbed view and the ease of floating windows. You can snap windows together and make their title bars behave like tabs. And I dig the neo-retro BeOS look!

  #TIL there are efforts to port #FontForge to #GTK3 . If you have skills in that area, please help out. FontForge's custom UI kit is... ancient, 25 years old.
