I just imported Carbon.HIToolbox.Events in order to get constants that represent key codes (for use with NSEvent.keyDown, etc.). What year is this?? Those constants aren't defined in any more modern header, as far as I can tell. (Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong!) https://stackoverflow.com/a/59995062

Working on my Mac app makes me so happy. I wish I could find a way to earn a living doing it.

Just remembered The Incident (iOS, 2010) when Radiccio randomly surfaced its 13-minute official soundtrack by @cabel. The game is still available on the App Store! It still works! When you're waiting in a line somewhere, it's more fun than scrolling feeds! It even still has a web site! https://www.theincidentapp.com I really appreciate it when creators keep stuff like this available for such a long time. Made by @mattcomi and @neven. I miss when iOS games used to be like this....

Wow... Kingfisher is *so much* better than AsyncImage. Images load faster and they stay loaded. A 5 minute change results in a huge improvement to my app UX. I'm kicking myself for not doing this ages ago. Plus, unlike AsyncImage, you can actually configure it if you need to. Which you probably won't, because it has sensible defaults. I don't like to use a lot of external libraries, but this one has earned it.

Spent most of the day fighting with SwiftUI and getting nowhere. Hate it when this happens. The solution, as always, was to redo some parts in AppKit. I wish I had done this whole app in AppKit from the start. SwiftUI never gave me this much trouble on iOS, but it's so much worse on Mac. And context-switching between the two is a drag.

I often wonder how many people are using my app. App Store Connect gives me some analytics about “sessions”, but it doesn’t include people who have opted out of “share with developers” at the OS level. Also, for a Mac app like mine, I’m not even sure what they mean by a “session”. I just leave it running all day, every day - how many “sessions” is that? Anyway, I have intentionally chosen not to have any additional analytics, because I believe privacy is more important. So, this is how it is.

I'm very excited about this next big feature I'm working on. Trying to resist the temptation to say too much about it. I hope it will be useful to a lot of people. 6k lines of code so far, and probably only halfway done. Whew. (All human typed, no vibing.)

Stop what you're doing and listen to this Tracy Chapman show from 1988 (one month after the release of her début album!) https://archive.org/details/ajc02870_tracy-chapman-1988-05-07/TracyChapman1988-05-07t02.flac Unbelievable raw talent. RE: https://mastodon.social/@daringfireball/116405120706339179 The name of Radiccio on the App Store is just "Radiccio". This was very important to me. I can't stand the SEO junk that clutters up app names, and it's just another minor tragedy that Apple has now resorted to this. (But probably not because of SEO; rather because app names "must" be unique and the old names were already taken… by them. Since it's THEIR STORE, I feel like...

RE: https://mastodon.social/@dmd/115657488444172514 As of today, all mentions of Liquid Glass have disappeared from developer.apple.com (the main home page). This may or may not mean anything... but I've been watching for it.
