Idea: consistent email/username -> alert sound mapping. Instead of undifferentiated MS Teams bloops you get a procedurally-generated unique alert based on who is actually messaging which you can learn to recognise, and even keep track of the overall rhythm of a chat by sound alone

1. Did Parkrun this morning, beginning my day of #5k2couch 2. Helped move a large broken car off the road, because sometimes you need a Big Friendly Guy for these things 3. Got a chainsaw (well, a wire saw) for cheap from an actual shop #3GoodThings

If the party is lying about Mitch McConnell and sending out false evidence of wellbeing, is that a big deal with consequences in this context? Is this like when the BBC did practice runs for when the queen died, where they're trialling "just deny it" to see what happens for when the big one drops?

business protip: if any task is discovered and needs to be done, demonstrate your professionalism by asking why it isn't done already. The most successful business leaders honed this skill in the back of their parents' cars.

I looked it up, and Blazing Saddles did that amazing overly-long absurdist cutaway gag before Family Guy's Seth MacFarlane was 1 year old. Happy 100th Mel Brooks

OK, I'm about to do a casual shared document thing (set list for potential live music) This is a classical Google Doc use case, but like most sensible folks I am moving away from US big tech. Is there something: - shareable/editable without a login (private link) - non-big tech - civilian-friendly - mobile compatible Yes I do want recommendations, if NextCloud can so this, that would be just fine, I am probably not going to self-host for this.

I don't want to use AI, but I would quite like to tell people at work that I don't have any tokens left and they should ask again another time. "Sorry guys, context switches have run out for today, I'm just going to keep doing what I was doing for a bit"

Basically expecting right-wing Christians to care about Jesus or the bible is like expecting Freemasons to do your garden wall without charging you. Yes, it's in the name, but

I've started noticing men's underwear branded with heavy equipment companies like JCB and Caterpillar. There must be people who graduated from Bob the Builder pullups and have never worn non-construction-themed underwear since.
