Just installing MSDOS 6.2 as you do... Been a while since I last had those disks out! And you forget the tactile satisfaction of ejecting one disk and inserting the next. Those clunks and sounds... Ah yes, DLBSPACE and MEMMAKER - those key innovations to stretch your PC further! Also been a while since I saw a CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT Wish I still had my set of Win 3.11 floppies - never mind, this will do! #RetroComputing #MSDOS

How reliable are those cheap chip testers at picking out LS vs HC - does anyone know? It seems to reliably say the same thing in repeated tests, but I regularly get cheap marked LSs coming up as HCs, and vs versa. But is there any economic sense in remarking to the wrong thing? Surely both are still in demand? I'm now pondering how to test them myself...

Anyone know anything about the "PDS" - Programmers Development System - used to program 8-bit computers from early PCs? Information about it seems very sparse online... As far as I can see, it hooks up the PC end Intel 8255 IO interface to a Spectrum end Z80 PIO and then has a software protocol running over the IO lines to get code across to the target device. #RetroComputing #ZXSpectrum

That's annoying... somewhere in the house I know I have a db9 to db9 null modem cable - but can I find it!? Found several straight throughs mind. I've had to resort to my usual technique for finding such things. I've just ordered another one.

Is anyone aware of any article that provides a summary view of the Raspberry Pi Pico rp2040/rp2350 PIO APIs? There are lots of getting started and tutorials and so on; and the datasheet and hardware API reference lists them all. But, for example, I've not found anything that states there are sm_config_ , pio_sm_set_ , and the pio_encode_ groups. Or that there are _set_, _in_, _out_, _sidestep_ variants. I've got it, but before I blog it, I'd like to know if I'...

Have Aliexpress unpacking videos always been a thing and I just didn't notice? Or have lots more people suddenly started doing them...?

I'm trying to sort out a pile of ICs I've had delivered over the past month or two. But I'm not sure having a cat on my lap rubbing against me is particularly good from an ESD point of view so it looks like it will have to wait a bit longer... #AnyExcuse
