I've been around the IT industry for decades in various roles; now I'm not sufficiently specialist to do anything other than be a manager.</p><p>I used to do politics but got better. Still a liberal. It's great to burn the effigy of a tech billionaire at #EMFCamp in protest of the exploitation of people, labour and natural resources in the pursuit of endless growth. Genuine question, I'm not a full time developer - is there a way to put some kind of container around stuff run through pipenv, cargo, npm etc. which could help limit the impact of all these cred stealing malwares?

I once heard someone say "Chris Rea is from Middlesbrough, I bet 'Driving Home For Christmas' is about a traffic jam on the M1." This amused me as a bit of folk etymology for years. Tonight I discovered via Wikipedia this is literally true - it was 1978, Chris Rea had just finished recording at Abbey Road studios in London, and his wife drove down from Middlesbrough to pick him up because he was out of contract and the record company wouldn't pay for his train ticket home....
