Thought How come most of us are all going nuts about the “productivity increase” and “human progress” that comes with #AI, yet we all more or less agree professional athletes should not use any doping?

At times, the irony of History has a particularly bitter taste... I've just learned that both Sam Altman and Aaron Swartz were part of the very first cohort, in 2005, of YCombinator (a startup accelerator)...

RE: https://mastodon.social/@itsfoss/116934163739079321 Let's be clear about this... #Musk going #OpenSource has nothing to do with transparency.... He must have something else in his sick mind...

IMHO we should all have the right, once a year, to proclaim it's "FuckOffDay" and just do whatever you want

Excellent podcast on the report on "The Limits to Growth" with, justified, focus on one of my heroes: Donella Meadows... Highly recommend https://tippingpoint-podcast.com/

RE: https://mastodon.social/@cr00ky/116374261115217470 At last a printer I could _not_hate... Printers are either the proof that God does not exist or that he is an incredible sadistic bastard... This #OpenSource printer might be the beginning of a new era !

hello wondering if someone in the #phpc community had any expertise in WAF (Web Application Firewall) technologies ? Ideally looking for a #European cloud based solution.. I have found four of them that look promising, but have to admit lack the knowledge to really know: https://www.myrasecurity.com/fr/ https://www.ubikasec.com/en/ https://baleen.cloud/ https://bunny.net/shield/ any thoughts on this ?

Don't say « it's f*** hot » anymore... Say it's kokushobi ! Cuz naming things is the first step to make them exist... This is exactly the opposite of, for instance, a US administration that bans words. That's Orwell's Newspeak... Remove the words to express the concepts you don't want to see, and the whole concepts will disappear in the end... #kokushobi, is just the opposite... love this https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-04-17/japan...

Have been reminded by a fellow #PHP dev that, instead of a simple array, one could also use WeakMap... Nice thing with this is that it is a real dictionary... and that it accepts objects as keys... and this includes `Enum::case` https://www.php.net/manual/en/class.weakmap.php

isn't it ironic... don't you think devs do not like to write documentation... and the only way to actually get something clean out of #AI is to write documentation, no code, just documentation... it's like raiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin on your wedding day it's a free riiiiiiide that you aleady paid It's the good advice that you just didn't take And who would've thought? It figures #developer #dev

How could one take finances seriously? I mean, the fact that stocks go up and down every time Trump has something to post or to say, and that most of the time it’s plain BS, does tend to tell me that finances is just a game for immature kids with way to much money that have no understanding whatsoever of what is really going on…

Hello @protonprivacy@mastodon.social Just have realized there is no “newsletter” section on the mobile app… at least not on iOS… I love this feature when I’m on my laptop… would definitely be useful in the mobile app as well!

Did some hacking to use the Kindle Highlights, in context (that means, with the book's content) on my computer... First draft, very hacked, nothing tested... but it works It will be quite hard to inject this back into a format that is usable in Calibre (note... Kindle was a gift... and quite frankly, its a good eReader... but I never bought a book on the store and always work with EPUBs through Calibre) https://gitlab.com/belgeek/kindle-hightlights

New existential question popped up in my mind... Who is the person that thinks of the patterns that are printed on toilet paper? And how does that person work? Is there like a complete design team behind it? Do they make proofs of concept and have test panels that need to fill in a questionnaire? Or is it like just someone who asks his kid for a drawing... and go for it.
