Canada folks seeing wildfire smoke filling your homes - please get an air filter. You can build a Corsi-Rosenthal box for cheap with a box fan, some furnace filters, and duct tape. You don't wanna breath in all those particulates floating around. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corsi%E2%80%93Rosenthal_Box

Presidential candidates should be required to take the presidential fitness test live at debates.

I used to have a perfectly functional work laptop. Whatever this latest nanyware is seems to be causing 2-3 crashes an hour now. Fucking great.

Strawberry shortcake mochi is life changing. Do not pass up an opportunity to have some.

People should not be surprised when you ask for on-call pay in response to their ask for you to be on-call. You gotta pay for me to stay sober and make no plans.

If your service requires age verification or the new Google recaptcha bullshit, it will be forever dead to me. It doesn't matter what you provide. I promise you, it is not essential and alternatives exist.

My post-pto resolution is to do one thing at a time. Fuck multitasking.

If I learn how to use stilts I could paint this deck so much faster.

Codium keeps getting laggier and less stable. Unsure if it's electron getting worse, all the vibe coding at Microsoft, or something else. But I think it's time for me to move on. It's even crashing with my larger projects at times. Might give zed a try. Or one of the newer terminal editors, those seem fun.

"Two out of three chief executives are buying a tool they cannot evaluate, cutting staff on capability claims they cannot verify and calling the result a strategy. On a conference stage, this is called vision. On a balance sheet, it is called an unfunded liability." Honestly 2/3 seems low. https://www.forbes.com/councils/forbestechcouncil/2026/05/14/the-ai-layoff-bill-is-coming-due-and-ctos-are-going-to-pay-it-twice/

I started poking around with a browser based game idea. And I realized I have no idea how to make it accessible for screen reader users. So I decided to look around to see how other devs have done this. And as far as I can tell, they haven't tried at all.

Coworker: I propose we do X . Me: How about Y instead? Coworker: Isn't it simpler to do X? Me: Yes but Y is going to be more fun to build. And like 1.3% more efficient. But mainly, the more fun thing. I don't think they understand how much that honestly factors into my decisions.

What's cooler than a flaky test? A test that's only flaky in your CI pipeline. This is going to suck. Wtf am I doing with my life...

I'm not a birdwatcher. But damn I get jazzed every time I see one of the native birds hanging out on my property. Just saw a pueo (an owl) cruise by after letting the chickens out.

I just got the most ridiculous marketing e-mail from twitch. It fabricates a chat log implying I have a community there that misses me. This is for an account that only exists because I tried to reproduce a compatibility bug reported for the twitch signup page. It has never watched a stream or had any interaction on the platform beyond that. I hope nobody is actually falling for this.

If you're a general contractor, maybe don't use an obviously AI generated picture on your home page. Definitely not going with you and your trees that turn into poles, misaligned edges, stairs to nowhere, etc.

A whole lot of companies seem to be going from "We want to be your AI agent provider" to "We will allow you to provide your own AI agent" real quick. Almost as if the money isn't there for them to want to do that.

How does anybody expect me to work under these conditions? In this case, "these conditions" is referring to new anime episodes coming out for multiple series that I am following. Plus like, the state of the entire world.

So Republicans in Louisiana has created a fake emergency to suspend elections, that were starting in 2 days with early voting, in a desperate attempt to rig elections. I don't know where the line for rioting is but it seems like this crossed it. https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/louisiana-delays-us-house-primary-draw-new-map-after-supreme-court-ruling-2026-04-30/

If the FCC bans"foreign manufactured" routers, I guess that effectively halts data center builds too?

My wife was talking about the evil versions of us that got rich because they have less morals. And I discovered, that in her wildest fantasies, the most evil versions of us have: - 10 acres of land - a personal chef that we pay well - basically the same house we're in, just built by somebody who's not an idiot I then reminded her that this was not even close to what the top 1% currently have. And she got a little sad.
