  At FediCon someone was like "you don't look like your photo". I took off my glasses and then they were like "wow, it is you".   I will post my FediCon slides later this week, but I'm proud that I ignored my partners advice about putting memes into my talk to get laughs. I kept it professional, and used Loops itself to make jokes, nothing gets a crowd more pumped than legal threats and VC jokes! "This room is legally required to cheer for that."   I can sometimes obsess over the tiniest details, because attention to detail matters. My most recent example: Loops DMs don't need to render the mentions in the message bubble. It just looks better without them. They do provide important context sometimes, so they are available when you need them, with a tooltip popover.   When I first announced Loops, I never expected 20,000 people to sign up in the first few months. At the same time, Pixelfed doubled from 200,000 users to over 400,000 users in ONE WEEK, mostly on pixelfed.social Combined with the launches of the official Pixelfed Android/iOS app and the launch of our Kickstarter, I had to focus on Pixelfed.   I just suggested to the @Mastodon@mastodon.social team to implement Sign in with Apple/Google in their official mobile app. I think it would make a huge difference. Yes, it would centralize the fediverse more, but it would also bring a whole diverse new crowd here, to make a home on the most trusted and stable Mastodon server.   In a perfect world, we wouldn't have to rely on Sign in with Apple or Google. Everyone would know about open source, the social web and data privacy. We need to stop dreaming, and leverage the tools available to really make a difference.   My favourite slide from my FediCon talk about Loops was the very last one I added at 3am the night before my talk. "Someone hears about a thing, they go to sign up, and the first screen asks them to choose a server. And they don't know what a server is. They don't know what any of these words mean, and they've now been asked to make an infrastructure decision before they've seen a single video. Most of them just leave" #Loops #FediCon

  Adding MLS/e2ee support to Loops will require some significant client side work, which is fine, but in the short term I will add a warning modal when authoring new Direct Messages or on the first conversation view, warning that communications are not encrypted and not to share any sensitive details through this channel. @ariadne@social.treehouse.systems do you have any short term suggestions on how to improve this before MLS is shipped?
