  Good day, all told. Daughter’s football team won 5–0, which was excellent, but better still they’ve started passing properly and playing actual football. Dangerous stuff. The panda corys have settled in and are patrolling the tank like tiny moustachioed inspectors. Also finished A Darkness Returns. Lovely to see familiar faces again.   Interesting Liverpool-led project from Juri Smirnov and colleagues using #AI for molecular discovery across #ParticlePhysics, cancer-cell inhibition, and #AntimicrobialScience. The key feature is the closed loop: predictions tested experimentally, results fed back into the next round. AI in the scientific workflow, not stuck on at the end as a fashionable label.   Sadly, I think it’s time to retire my #selfhosted #mail server. It’s been an interesting ride and I’ve learnt a lot. Unfortunately, I somehow managed to mess up my LUKS and I end up having to manually recover from initramfs after every kernel patch/upgrade, no matter how many times I fix it. Even leaving that aside, pretty soon, I’d need to migrate to a new server stack.   I stood up my first docker container today, all by myself. It turns out that old-ish dogs can learn new tricks (under duress).
