  It seems like Bill Oddie (Bill Oddie‽ Bloddy?) was one of the few British comedians of my youth who hasn’t since been completely cancelled (I’m not googling to milkshake duck this). That said, some Goodies episodes are definitely not watchable these days.

  The illustrations in Australian Standards are almost universally awful, but the stick figures in AS/NZ 1891.4 (Personal equipment for work at height) are actually quite cute.

  I took my old camera, a Panasonic LUMIX GF1 with a 20mm pancake prime, down to the beach the other week. I love the photos this thing produces. So much nicer than the iPhone.

  Caught the new Flix bus from Canberra to Sydney and back this weekend. It was fine. They advertise Wifi but it was pretty bad, IME. Seats were comfortable enough. The round trip was about $600 less than it would have been to fly, so I think it was reasonable for what I paid.

  My car has a software update available which is basically “bug fixes and performance enhancements” but after iOS 26 and Liquid Glass I’m reluctant to just hit the update button these days.

  We have a tree just outside our back door that produces “berries” that the sulphur-crested cockatoos seem to love, so all day this time of year the cockies sit in the tree clipping off branches and dropping shit all over our back deck.

  Having spent most of the last couple of days out at the Canberra Show for work, I would recommend that if you want to see the show but don’t like crowds, go in the morning, or on Friday, and particularly Friday morning. The Friday thing isn’t useful this year, of course, but it might be useful next year. Just be aware if you’re going for the rides, a lot of them don’t seem to operate early on Friday (you could conceivably get a ride all to yourself if you time it right on the Friday).

  Having read/followed MacStories since back when it was actually about Macs, and occasionally being a paying subscriber, I think it’s time to unfollow their accounts and feeds. They’re basically all AI all the time now, and it’s just tedious and boring.
