#Daylily du jour brings 2 new daylilies today, one brand newly-planted and blooming, and one transplanted and blooming regardless. Both purples. "Purple d'Oro" and "Kansas Kitten" varietals. #BloomScrolling

    For anyone who is attempting to claim Canadian citizenship through the December #C3 ruling, an upsetting brake has been pushed by IRCC on Saturday, for a number of people who have already obtained their certificates: in some cases, their citizenship is being suspended, and different documents demanded. This, now, after the unclear documentary instructions in the application, and the enormous backlogs at the provincial archives, not to mention the challenge of finding any documentation from eve...

    The Tuesday #daylily du jour, finally something different! These are amongst the bad-timing transplants, so just happy to see a few blooms. #BloomScrolling "Runway Fashion"

    The route back from #LakePowhatan and through the Arboretum, only about 1/3 of the route is a trail and not a gravel road. It does run along Bent Creek which is always attractive. #Hike #walk

    #Hike #Walk to Lake Powhatan this morning in the #NCArboretum, when it was actually still cool, under 60F when we started. A level road for much of the way, the lake is a fishing spot for many.

    Looking again at the most recent drought map, it appears there are 5 states still that are completely in a drought condition (D1 or above.) Not saying his means anything in particular, and "abnormally dry" is also a bad thing. But still. NJ DE VA NC and UT https://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/CurrentMap.aspx

    @magsol@quinnwitz.house It's a pretty cool city, with a lot of galleries, and actual shops, not just chain restaurants. And so many coffee shops. And 2 bakeries. Everything's hot now, so can't imagine playing football in August.

    Another stop on our #Brevard, NC adventure today was Dolly's ice cream, a very old-timey spot along 276/Pisgah Highway, which stretches from 280 up to the Blue Ridge Parkway with any numbers of hiking trails and waterfalls along the route. Always popular in the summer we hadn't visited since trying once last summer, when they hadn't quite reopened after their post-Helene rebuild. Quite good #IceCream with more flavors than one could count.

    An early afternoon wander in Brevard, here in Western North Carolina. Stopped in one coffee shop, liked various chalk boards, saw the "waterfall warning" board, and one excellent canned drink. Happy #Saturday.

    The #Daylily du jour is again an assortment of the same 3 varietals, so I apologize for being so repetitive. There are 5 plants in one bed and 7 in the other that look ready to open, so hoping we get to see a bloom before the deer find them again, like last year. #BloomScrolling #Saturday

    A ridiculously indulgent #picnic today at a #lake nearby, with a small shared charcuterie box, and a special root beer from Green Man in town here. The pavilion overlooks the lake, and some kids swimming, which I wouldn't do in a gazillion years. Lovely #Friday.

    @orci@mastodon.social I would set up a picnic.

    @avlcharlie@mastodon.social That's an interesting series, they remade it in about 2008, I think, with a great cast. I tried the older one, after the newer one and it was a little more difficult. Enjoy!
