@czarbucks@vmst.io I don't know if there's as much of a widespread disinformation crisis in medicine happening outside the United States, but here the skyrocketing cost of medicine, both in the sense of physician visits and various medical interventions, is contributing to that crisis. I'm hearing anecdotally that older people are forgoing cancer screenings because they want to be able to help their children financially, and they know if cancer is detected, every penny they've saved and more will go to treatments that aren't even guaranteed to work. When medicine becomes a luxury, it creates fertile ground for disinformation to take hold.
