Gare de Lyon yesterday evening at 6pm: when you design the waiting spaces so poorly it quickly crumbles at every disruption. Main hall completely overcrowded, it can take 5 minutes to cross it. People sitting on every possible staircase, along every wall in all levels of the station, or seeking fresh air in the privatized shops. Ultimately it's not SNCF's fault that fire damaged the high-speed line, but the poor space design is SNCF Gare & Connections' fault. #canicule #SNCF #S...

RE: https://masto.nu/@MoveTheNeedle/116487985065502837 @jon Good to know that 4-minute delays become 15 minutes at the German border because border checks are using outdated, fragmented, half-connected passport-scanning software! ๐Ÿคก /sarcasm

SNCF, Renfe: you shall not bring luggage larger than X cm, you shall not forget your luggage tag, you shall not bring a knife, you shall not bring a plant, you shall not bring a chair, you shall not make noise, you shall check in 20 minutes in advance, etc. Switzerland: hold my alpine horn! ๐ŸŽบ Yes, trains can and should also be social and fun places!

Interesting data point in @OlivierRazemon@piaille.fr's blog: 90% of car drivers (in a rural town in France) always use the same parking spot. Perhaps explains why removing a handful of spots at a hyperlocal scale often leads to very vocal opposition, even when at the scale of a city statistics show that car usage decreases, or when even in small towns there is approval for more pedestrian areas. Just not in my backyard. https://linterconnexionnestplusassuree.fr/2026/01/15/municipales-2026-c...
