Interesting data point in @OlivierRazemon@piaille.fr's blog: 90% of car drivers (in a rural town in France) always use the same parking spot.
Perhaps explains why removing a handful of spots at a hyperlocal scale often leads to very vocal opposition, even when at the scale of a city statistics show that car usage decreases, or when even in small towns there is approval for more pedestrian areas.
