It says a lot that an institution as problematic as the LAPD can do this, but our local sherrif's department is all aboard https://techcrunch.com/2026/07/13/lapd-lets-contract-with-surveillance-giant-flock-expire-citing-serious-concerns-over-civil-liberties-and-privacy/

🎵 Nails at Oxnard Elks Lodge #grindcore (2026-07-12) This was my second show and in a different room (Elks Lodges are big places!). When I saw Superheaven it was in the primary event hall. There was a quinceañera there and the hardcore show was down a narrow hallway past that. This was Nails' first show in Ventura County in 12 years. They played El Rio 5 years before that and who knows how long it's been... https://www.coryd.dev/music/concerts/nails-oxnard-elks-lodge-2026-07-12

📝 Building the future #Ai #Tech #Labor Watching the tech hype train while working in the industry has always felt a bit surreal. There's this nascent feeling that what I'm working on, while it pays my bills, either won't amount to much or is potentially a net negative. I'll admit that I'm predisposed to cynicism and will freely cast off jokes at the expense of what I observe. It's easy to do. https://www.coryd.dev/posts/2026/building-the-future

🔗 It is no longer safe to move our governments and societies to US clouds via @bert_hubert #Tech #Politics We used to think that grieving went through five stages: denial, protest, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. We no longer really believe in that theory, but when it comes to dealing with the US, many Europeans are however currently busily negotiating with reality. https://berthub.eu/articles/posts/you-can-no-longer-base-your-government-and-society-on-us-clouds/

📝 Migrating infrastructure off Coolify #Development #Webdev #Docker #Coolify #Tailscale I've spent a while recently migrating my personal infrastructure off Coolify. Coolify's an excellent tool and one that helped manage the initial learning curve of managing and deploying things when I started to self host things. 🔗 The View From RSS via Caroline Crampton #Tech #Rss I read a lot on the web. I almost never look at websites, though. I consume almost everything through an RSS reader. As AI reshapes the way online information is organised and consumed, it increasingly feels like I'm behind the scenes, watching the performance from the wings rather than seeing it from the front as intended. I thought I'd tell you why I do this and what it looks like. https://www.carolinecrampton.com/the-view-...
