I've been following @scottsantens@hachyderm.io for years as he's probably the greatest advocate for #UniversalBasicIncome out there, and this essay is one of the best he's written #UBI https://www.scottsantens.com/the-angine-de-poitrine-argument-for-ubi/

This reminds me a bit of a Sheffield-born singer, not the very famous one, but I'm 99% sure it isn't them #ListeningClub

Enjoyed this #EarthDay essay from Andrew Boyd in #TheGuardian We need an eco-masculinity to counter the effort to associate maleness with fossil fuels. Particularly liked the religious aspect of favouring energy from the blessed heavens (solar, wind) over hellfire from below (oil, coal) https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/apr/22/masculinity-gender-climate-crisis

And this is why #ReformUK are not a suitable party to govern the UK: we have a national health service, pensions, and welfare benefits all paid for by the state, on top of all the other things normally funded by the state. These are not commitments compatible with a low-tax economy. We should be happy to pay more in tax for these wonderful collective goods. #UKpolitics https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/mar/16/britons-should-strive-to-pay-minimum-tax-legally-possible-richard-tice-refor...

To my ears there's something slightly odd about the production, I can't put my finger on it. Sort of slightly muffled maybe. Or perhaps it's just my bluetooth speaker, maybe I should've gone for headphones #ListeningClub

Went to doctor the other day regarding a medical issue, and when I raised #HRV as a possibly salient metric they had never heard of it and didn’t know what I was talking about, so there’s that, sports fans. #fitness

This is possibly my favourite shop in #LondonUK if not the world. Brothers greengrocers in #Dulwich Stocks the most incredible, comprehensive, seasonal range of fruit & veg of anywhere. Just lovely

#godspeedyoublackemperor absolutely mesmerising at #LondonUk #Troxy tonight - never seen anything like this at that scale. Extraordinarily controlled slow-moving but visceral music. Blimey.

I try not to be a reply guy. I don't, in general, find microblogging sites to be good places for detailed debate. You rarely get someone saying "that's a good point" in response to anything, and people do have a hankering to have The Last Word. So it seems a bit pointless and I only do it when I'm feeling pretty strongly that a falsehood needs to be challenged or a productive point needs to be reinforced, for the benefit of readers, usually, not particip...

Words fail me in trying to describe my friends’ incredible documentary feature #film Out Laws, which had its premiere at the #BFI #Flare #lgbt film festival on Monday & was shown again in NFT 1 this morning. Such an important, serious subject told in such a joyful, powerful way. I am in awe of their achievement. Can’t recommend it highly enough, bookmark & seek out https://whatson.bfi.org.uk/flare/Online/default.asp?BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::permalink=out-laws-flare2...
