I’m looking for a reference work on collecting small seeds. How early you can pick pods that shatter easily, tricks for containing seeds that you can’t pick pre shatter, how much a species? genus? is prone to inbreeding depression. book or Extension publication, preferably. My current best is _Creative Propagation_, Thompson. #gardening #botany #MarketGarden

How dense does wood need to be to be desirable to woodblock carvers? I have a length of plum trunk that grew in the shade and Ivy choked, so, very slowly. The rings look extremely fine and it’s surprisingly heavy to lift, especially for plum. 4” to 6” in diameter, so only small blocks. 3’ or 4’ long? Near #Everett and I could get it to #Seattle if it would definitely be useful. I’d like to chop/glue it into a crazy dense cutting board, but am not a woodworker - merely a vegetable chopper.

#Seattle area #vegetable and herb gardeners -- the second Tilth edible plant sale is a few weeks out. Mentioning it now for people who plan ahead; also they usually need volunteers and I met great people when I volunteered. NB, the May sale is INCREDIBLY BUSY and PARKING IS HARD but they are EXTREMELY ORGANIZED ABOUT IT. Go with a friend and treat it like a fun hang, is my advice. https://tilthalliance.org/event/may-edible-plant-sale/ Volunteering: https://tilthalliance.org/get-involved/...

I think of the fediverses, not a single fediverse. Seeing all the living things and loving them together is one of the most important fediverses. @Jgbird
