I'm trying to generate some motivation to get things done, but last night's low of 77 degrees F, current temp of 92 degrees F with drizzle, 50% RH, no AC, and a fan that needs cleaning is siphoning my energy. I have a major case of the fuck-its right now. And I'm not driving yet so my go-to heat relief mechanism isn't available. I have no idea how folks in the U.S. South do this every year.

I normally have no interest in baseball (or any other pro sport for that matter), but this caught my eye as I live about 5 miles from Anaheim Stadium. I hope that Kroenke focuses on winning instead of maximum profit extraction via expense starvation. #mlb #angels https://www.mlb.com/news/stan-kroenke-purchases-angels-from-arte-moreno

When Bartiromo was at CNBC, I found her to be a solid financial reporter. I stepped away from viewing when I saw her beginning her transition from financial journalist to MAGAt mouthpiece. Her slide into darkness reminded me a great deal of Lou Dobbs, and I expect her to have a similar career trajectory if she doesn't end up landing a spot as Press Secretary for #trump. https://variety.com/2026/tv/news/maria-bartiromo-out-fox-news-fox-business-1236850594/

The #startrek Strange New Worlds soap-opera episode is yet another huge miss in a season full of disappointment for me. The acting talent on this show is strong, the characters are well defined, and I am still invested in seeing how arcs for characters not on TOS are resolved, but the schtick-of-the-week theme of this season is fucking ponderous.

#trump is right. I think he also knows folks will also spend years CTRL-Z'ing him from public consciousness like a fart in the wind. His legacy will portray him being a thin-skinned, narcissistic, senile charlatan and not a an respected impactful world leader. https://www.yahoo.com/news/politics/articles/trump-says-nobody-build-monuments-135654868.html

HBO's #rome was good enough (IMHO) that I initially bought the series on DVD, then re-bought it when it came out on Blu-ray. Yeah, it had nudity, but it was really good. I don't have access to either set of physical media (nor anyway to play the media at this point), bur I might consider yet another purchase in digital form. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/tv/articles/raunchy-forgotten-hbo-series-10-193759518.html

Aaron Rodgers is an insufferable twat. As a #steelers fan, I want nothing more than to see him leave the NFL and be forced into selling timeshares in FL to make ends meet. https://people.com/aaron-rodgers-goes-after-ex-danica-patrick-in-scathing-new-interview-12114378

There is an old saying in the #eve game community (or at least my alliance): The way to win #eve is not to play it. I have been winning eve since 2011, but for some subconscious reason, I'm drawn to it again. The pre-game activities have commenced. I've corralled my four existing accounts (one of which required an exhausting ongoing conversation with #ccpgames to get the email changed), and now I'm working through how to get re-integrated back into my corp. Things have changed sinc...

My son is selling popcorn to fund his Boy Scout (now Scouting America) initiatives which include an international trip postponed by the initiation of the Iranian War and his Eagle Scout project. The popcorn fundraiser is different than what the Girl Scouts do with cookies. The popcorn features more expensive items, but the cut the Scout retains is larger. Difference in philosophy I suppose. If popcorn isn't your thing, there are also donation options which supports both my son and an effor...

Yet again, I am disappointed with the latest episode of #startrek #StrangeNewWorlds. Another week, another shtick-of-the-week "fun", "crazy" premise. Yawn. With this terrific cast, there were a lot of opportunities to tell the stories of non_TOS characters as well as providing interesting background for TOS personalities. With a few exceptions, the focus has been on putting this cast through "wacky" situations week-in and week-out. The writing has been shit-tier,...

⚠️ POLITICAL POST/RANT ⚠️ Complacency breeds laziness. Now is the time to punch the accelerator, not jam the car in neutral, coast, and kill momentum. This kind of counting-the-eggs-before-they've-hatched horseshit is the very reason that the U.S. has suffered and will continue to suffer under #dementiadon #trump #maga buffoonery. Instead of depending on polls that have been shown to be inherently flawed, now should be the time when the #dems smell the blood in the water and press for an eve...

I use a #ricoh #griii and have been very happy with it when I'm not being a dumbass with settings (ask me how I know). Some folks didn't seem happy with the quality of the initial #griv when it came out and I hope Ricoh is able to solve the QA/QC issues seen with early GRIV models. https://petapixel.com/2026/08/26/ricoh-is-developing-the-gr-ivx/?utm_source=flipboard&utm_medium=activitypub

Listening to Led Zeppelin I after not hearing it for a bit for a while is always a welcome diversion. The #applemusic version has a wider soundstage than the #spotify version to my ear, and the bass/guitars seems a bit crisper. Easily one of the best debut albums ever produced. #ledzeppelin

Not pictured: a jedi warrior, an arab royal, or a devoted monk. Pictured: a very hot and uncomfortable soul with no AC and a wet dishtowel over his head. And not hot in a good way. The fan is helping. :)

This is what can happen when somebody drinks too much at a nightclub, insults a man's girlfriend with some very colorful words and descriptive phrases, and gets the shit beat out of him when his wingmen disappear. Not pictured: arm cast stabling both forearm bones pre-surgical repair as a result of angry boyfriend putting his pointed cowboy boot through left arm while in a fetal position after initial assault. This was the formative life event for me. It steered me away from #alcohol which...

Performative outrage artist Susan Collins has never met a standoff she can't cave on. Oblivious and superficial. She's not moderate, just completely delusional with lists of rationalizations longer than a CVS receipt. Look for her to fall in line after somebody else on the right assures her that Todd will play nice, and also look for her and Murkowski to be among the first to be performatively surprised and outraged Todd is still Todd. What a fucking loudmouthed lemming. https://www....

I'm starting the process of using #applemusic in preparation for migrating me and family members away from #spotify long-term. Sure, Spotify may be owned or run by AI-loving war nazis, but their interface is so much more intuitive. Aren't Apple the UI kings? I (so far) really dislike the UI. And no smart shuffle? Yeah, I get it, having ready access to AI-loving war nazis has a trickle down effect in terms of AI being more involved in the shiffle algo. But NGL, I miss it. Having to pay...

I am a bit frustrated with the entire process of getting the last few (5 to 10) songs that #scrobble to #lastfm to show on my website. The functionaliry is currently there atm, but I am using an external website that seems to scrape my lastfm profile then pass the results wrapped in an image. I'd like to be able to not depend on other sites to display that information, Before telling me to #rtfm, can somebody please explain to me what they are doing in detail and talk to me like I'm old...

I have recently taken a hard look at migrating away from my Lenovo i7 Win11 laptop to a #macbook Pro for my main productivity workhorse. While there are some great reasons to stick with My ASUS i9 laptop (gaming), there are at least for me some very compelling reasons to shift to a Mac for my daily driver. Having said that, one of the main reasons I haven’t made the switch involves my apprehension over how a potential migration of my #obsidian environment will shake out. I do use Obsidian Sync,...

After finally successfully exporting the media from an older IG account, I came across this gem. Yes, image is old enough it has an OLD IG frame. This is also before Anakin was turned into a wanker in the #starwars film series. Originally posted in November 2014. I said I wouldn't post pics of my #kid without the face being blurred. A big relief: the used car that my son received as a combo effort from me, his mom, and his grandparents for his high school graduation doesn't appear to need a new transmission. I feel #fortunate and #grateful at receiving an $800 repair bill, which included a complete brake job. Fucking #cvt transmissions...
