Went to #sensorio in Paso Robles last week. The pictures off my camera didn't do it justice, the 5-min edit off my DSLR is a bit closer.

RE: https://publicidentity.net/@jezdez/116398033532950758 Did you know that the PSF has to pay for most of the hotel rooms reserved around #PyConUS if attendees don't book them? You can help #PyConUS be just a tiny bit more of a success by booking a hotel oom through our official channels!

RE: https://researchbuzz.masto.host/@danlyke/116483398203313355 This talk is about maths, queer subcultures, gender roles, henry ford, and so many more things than implied by just the title. Yes, one of the most #NBPy talks at this year's #NBPy.

And I also gave a talk aboout #NBPy built around a paper from the mid-1980s. What is "the truth" or "correct" in programming? Very little. And that means we need to properly understand what it is that we do and what we make. https://youtu.be/d7AeWFbOTHg

For the time being, we're leaving behind a venue that's been so kind to us, and I'm definitely a little bit sad about that. But #NBPy gives me hope, and fills me for the coming year. So, see you all next year, in a different building, but still in the best little town, with the best community in tech. Thank you all! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š

I encourage attendees of #NBPy to donate "if they got more value out of the conference than what they paid". Today, our post-conference donations total more than a Silver Sponsorship. We have a truly wonderful community who care about us continuing to do what we do. I'm so grateful.

I see that by @glyph not speaking this year, he's getting a heckle-mention in half the talks. Let this be a lesson, or something. ๐Ÿค” #NBPy

My dear @robin is running a fundraiser for transition-related medical expenses that we'd really prefer to not have to defer. Current goal is the cost of the very specific health insurance we need to maintain. That alone would be an amazing result. DEETS: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-robin-take-flight

Some things that I hold true about software engineering: 1. Systems can gain modified functionality by accretion (i.e. additional code is created), or through alteration (i.e. new code replaces old code).

We had a heat pump water heater installed last week, and I've just realised we've invented the most ridiculous solar hot water system ever: the sun hits solar panels on the roof to provide the power to the fan, which pulls hot air from the attic, heated by the sun's radiation hitting the uninsulated roof, the heat pump directs that heat into the water. Solar power, with an obscene amount of indirection.

Some regrettable personal news: As of ~45 mins ago I am no longer employed. I'm still trying to find my bearings, but would be gateful for whatever leads y'all have. (I will say more in a bit, once I actually have the time to spare) #GetFediHired
