Another animal alarm clock... (Jiji won't sit still if he sees your fingers: he will hunt your fingers and demand a cheek scratch, which is why I have to sleep with my hands under the duvet even in the heat) #cats #catsOfMastodon

Gang... I'm so long out of the game of buying home network routers, I'd appreciate recommendations for my parents: - two routers that can mesh between ground and attic floors (standard 100-year old house with a few brick walls and wooden floors - only for 3 peeps (although up to 12 at Christmas) on a 100Gb connection - two apply tvs, iphones, apple laptops - needs to be reliable, fool proof to setup - security a benefit but nothing too complex Thoughts and feelings welcome

Just finished hand writing my thesis on Porco Rosso over the last 7 hours. Will OCR it and share a blog post soon. Hand hasn't hurt this much since the Leaving Cert history exam...

Clouds are fossils of the sky that paint a snapshot of what the wind looked like at a certain point in time.

Hello everyone 👋 I wrote an essay about the Studio Ghibli movie, "Porco Rosso", which is in my Top 3 films of all time. "Porco Rosso: How Trauma Can Be Managed Through Both Selfishness and Collectivism" I hope you enjoy it! https://itallhappenedsofast.com/2026/07/06/porco-rosso-how-trauma-can-be-managed-through-both-selfishness-and-communal-sacrifice/ #anime #film #movies #ghibli #StudioGhibli

I'm in Rome at the moment. Italians seem to love their small cars. I've seen the Citroen Ami a few times, but even the Fiat 500 and the Lancia Ypsilon are very popular. Driving around Rome city centre is so much easier and fun in these cars. Irish car culture is uglier and more ignorant than anywhere else; I cannot stand the faux-SUV shite we have. Tempted to write and push for legislation to subsidise these new small cars: https://mastodon.social/@FlanFlinger/1168966138583955...

I really really really cannot overstate how absolutely fucking toxic meta's social media platforms are. The longer I stay off them, any time I have to log in (usually to contact someone), I get the most hate-filled, click-bait, incendiary bullshit that absolutely ruins my mood and probably the whole day. End Meta, end their shareholder value, end their algorithm, end the lot of it. Decentralisation and freedom forever. #fediverse Edit: that goes for TikTok as well #dungHeap

RTE Brainstorm once again undermining the bullshit corporate workplace and practices. Worth the licence fee alone. https://www.rte.ie/brainstorm/2026/0223/1559888-workplace-management-systems-productivity-human-energy-burnout-stress/ I might start a petition to have them make a TV series of it and start a quiet revolution.

So, considering the near constant storms and strong winds: How are people keeping their bikes dry? I've been using a cover for the last 10 years, no bother. But the last 6 months I've had to reapply it nearly every day after it being blown off. Last night it was blown off despite being held down by two 20L paint buckets. #rother #bikeTooter #Cycling #bikes
