Whoof, it's good to be home! Even if we are facing down anywhere from 1-10 inches of snow tonight (we're right at the border between "won't be that bad" and "snowpocalypse!"). The drive out earlier in the week was nasty gray heavy rain, which was unpleasant. The drive home was dark the whole way, and snowy going through the mountains, so, tense. I had to admit, though, my distance glasses were a treat--as long as I kept them pushed up properly I could see really...

Lunch today with a friend who deliberately left Hong Kong before the British handed it over, to escape Chinese authoritarianism by building a life in the US--who is now going, WTF happened to the US? And on the other side of the table, a friend who was raised in the Quiverfull movement, who thought she'd escaped the Project 2025 ways of thinking she was raised on, only to see it become national policy. Whoof. We have a microcosmic community of trust among the three of us (and our sweeties...
