Finally!!! Good to see someone recognising that having your systems hack other companies’ systems needs more than an “oops, my bad” response “The European Commission is in talks with OpenAI and Anthropic over recent hacking incidents involving their AI models, Commission officials said today, as they touted landmark EU rules requiring strict monitoring of high-risk systems.” https://www.rte.ie/news/business/2026/0731/1586020-eu-in-talks-with-openai-after-rogue-ai-agent-hacks/

There’s lots of debate on the OpenAI/Hugging Face incident. My question is: who is liable when an AI isn’t properly contained & harms others? CISOs should use this as a prompt to understand their own AI liability & how to respond if another org’s AI attacks them. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c3ek3gvdnj3o

I recently spoke to Adrian Weckler for the Irish Independent on an article outlining the #cybersecurity concerns around the new Irish Government Digital Wallet https://www.independent.ie/business/irish-business/new-mandatory-but-not-compulsory-government-digital-wallet-will-not-have-extra-security-to-stop-fraudsters/a/158808241.html

Thanks to @helpnetsecurity@mastodon.social for letting me share those lessons Let me know your thoughts & what we in the #cybersecurity industry need to do better to communicate with others https://www.helpnetsecurity.com/2026/07/01/raising-cybersecurity-awareness-for-non-experts/

I wrote a paper for Digital Business Ireland on the potential impact the proposed changes to the #EU #Cybersecurity Act (#CSA 2.0) could have on SMEs. I also highlight steps to address those issues. I'd be interested in your thoughts on the topic https://www.digitalbusinessireland.ie/news/digital-business-ireland-calls-for-government-action-on-eu-cybersecurity-proposals/

Interesting story of an Irish company falling victim to BEC fraud. Criminals hijacked an employee’s email account in the victim company. They then used that account to send payment instructions to the company’s outsourced financial admin company. The victim company lost €2 million. The victim company is now suing the payments company on the basis that the payment company should have spotted that the emails were fraudulent https://m.independent.ie/irish-news/courts/company-has-more-than-2m-st...

On my way to CyberUK in Glasgow. Looking forward to catching up with people in person there and exploring my Scottish roots - my grandmother was from Glasgow. If you are around let me know and we can grab a coffee, a beer, or a wee dram :) #CyberUK
